April update on’Phoenix’ / what’s next for Frome for climate, green and community
24 April 2026
This is a brief update on where the evolution of a revitalised voice, and
supporting structure, for those concerned about our futures has got to.
A small flexible but focussed group has been meeting regularly and a time line is emerging which looks like this:
– The Past, present and future Frome: us, our place, our climate meet up is in Rye Bakery on Thurs May 7th, 7pm to 9pm, an interactive evening and alsojoined by the Civic Imaginary partnership project. This is nearly full with only a few spaces left so please book in here if you want to come. We will provide a summary of it for those unable to make it in person.
–The People’s Emergency Briefing film is screening at the Cheese and Grain on Thursday 21st from 7pm to 9.30pm, with the film lasting around 50 mins, and then time for reflection and discussion (this is a national campaign not especially Frome focussed) Tickets are here free / £3 Spread the word, tell your neighbours!
– Some kind of follow up to the film – perhaps a picnic in Victoria Park? – towards the end of May / early June – TBC
– A workshop to look atclimate impact / communities of vulnerability maps for Frome moving out of the SWT Act to Adapt findings. Sue and Miranda are leading on organising this workshop – June/July
– A workshop in mid-June (evening) for representatives of key players in designing this new entity we’re moving towards – mid June
– We have raised £3,600 to support these meetings and emerging activity, this is held by Sustainable Frome with whom we are working with a view to the new entity emerging off their existing base.
At the moment the best way to contact the process is through
info@sustainablefrome.org or seeing one of us at the above events.
